My Project
The 6th grade students at SMMS in Stamford, CT will be piloting a new design and modeling class! In order to bring their designs to life it is necessary to provide their classroom with the necessary tools. One of the most exciting and motivating tools for kids is access to a 3D printer which will allow them to print their TinkerCad created designs.
My goal is to provide my students with three 3d printers for them to access which will allow them to see the physical results of their digital work.
Having three printers will allow multiple products to be created simultaneously and increase the access to an exciting cutting edge technology.
The much broader goal of the project connects with our school wide mission. That is to provide meaningful STEM learning to every child at our school to make sure that they see themselves as capable of pursuing a STEM career in the future if they choose to. Also, to develop their skills in problem solving, computational thinking, understanding of the design cycle and grit.
My students are a diverse and hard working group that reflects the wonderful population of Stamford, CT. We are a school with a majority of students receiving free and reduced lunch and are a Title I school.
