My students need a variety of art supplies! I would love to make creative pieces while teaching about ancient civilizations like Greek pottery, Sumerian tablets, and Egyptian pyramid models!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are so eager to learn and they all want to experience hands-on activities. My school lacks an art elective, and what I want to do is to give my students opportunities to do something outside of reading and writing.
They need other ways of learning.
My students are in the 6th grade Magnet. They are bright and very eager to learn and do their best. However, we don't have the resources to do too many hands-on activities in the classroom. They yearn to express themselves creatively.
My Project
With art supplies, we would be able to create pieces that are related to what they will be learning in their History class (Ancient Civilizations in 6th grade). The projects we bring to life will benefit visual and kinesthetic learners in the classroom.
I plan on having them create mosaics, sculptures, pottery, scrolls, models, and paintings while focusing on the civilizations they are learning- Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, Greece, Rome, and China.
For example, I will need clay, sticks, and paint to make pyramids. I will need construction paper and glue for mosaics.
I am hoping that these kids will get the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and have fun at the same time!
