Help Us Brighten Our Education with Art

My Students

Year after year we are faced with the decisions of what needs to be taught in the 5 hours we have with the children on a daily basis.

We as educators spend most of our day teaching math, language art, science and social studies that we normally neglect the arts.

Our school is fortunate to have a volunteer who dedicates her time to come and teach the 4th and 5th grade students her love for the visual arts. The most difficult thing for her is that she doesn't have the proper materials to carry on her passion and educated the children.

My Project

For this proposal, we are asking for some air dry clay and some oil pastels to help service about 300 4th and 5th grade students this school year. This will allow students to explore the different domains of the visual arts instead of just sticking to pencils, crayons, and markers which we already have. With the materials that we receive, all of the fourth and fifth grade students will be able to make clay sculptures with air dry clay and also be able to use oil pastels to explore shading and show different dimensions and depth. I believe share the love of the arts will help the children better express who they are and allow them to have an educational outlet once a week with our amazing art teacher.

The education of the arts seem to be overseen at the elementary school level.

When push comes to shove, the arts are the first thing to be thrown out of the door. If feel giving exposure to the art at an early age will enhance their education and allow the children to express themselves in a different domain.
