Help us Bridge the Gap Between Science, Math, and Literacy

My students need a Numbers & Letters Activity Carpet, an 1-100 Pocket Chart Kit and 4 sets of themed books, including a Force & Motion Book Library.

My Students

There is a clear disconnect between reading, math, and science in my first grade classroom.

My students need to know that that these subjects have a relationship.

In first grade I usually select the science projects and experiments to conduct, but now I want to move toward my students creating and planning experiments. This can be done in first grade, but being able to think out of the box is very difficult for my students.

My Project

Having leveled science books, math materials, and a nice rug where the students can read will be a great motivator for my students. These resources will first give them exposure to other ideas so they can transfer the information they read to other topics. Secondly these resources will help my students realize the importance of numbers and measurements in science. Thirdly, the new rug will be so inviting that my students will want to find a quiet place to read all of these great books.

It is so important to create a connection between math, science, and literacy in primary grades.

I want to provide resources that spark their imagination. These tools will provide appropriate activities and learning opportunities that they will remember throughout the years.
