My Students
"College, career, and citizenship" is what students should be prepared for by the time they graduate from high school. In our ever changing society, this definitely means they need to know their way around a computer.
Our staff and students have been challenged to some big district goals, and I want my students to have every opportunity to meet those goals.
Some of our goals include: all students master grade level standards by 3rd grade, and students become tech savvy and tech literate (ASAP!). At this time my students have limited access to computers. We are allotted some computer cart time to use a district required math program, but students do not have time to use computers in any other meaningful ways. The time is NOW to get these kids using computers for more than just games. They are the next generation of computer programmers, video editors, website developers, and technology CEOs - they just need a little help getting the right tools!
My Project
These Chromebooks that can be used in many, many ways. With these materials students would be able to access district recommended software any day of the week, rather than just a few times per week as they do now. They would also be able to use programs such as FrontRow to work on differentiated math curriculum, and MyOn to listen to and read online books at their individual reading level. Students would also be able to use computers to create meaningful projects to showcase their learning, as well as learn basic coding. I believe that learning should be a unique and individual experience, and technology offers so many opportunities for teachers to meet the varied needs of students.
