My Students
Imagine an author. She works tirelessly and finally has a piece that is so fantastic, it could change the world. Then, she encounters a problem- she can't publish her book! This is the reality in my classroom- amazing students, inspiring writers, but no means of publishing our work.
I teach a group of amazing fifth graders who call one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Chicago their home.
They go through so much each and every day, and that is just before they even make it to school. Once at school, they are so eager and excited to learn that you would hardly know what they had to deal with before the 8 o'clock hour. The are motivated, hard-working, driven, and want to be the best that they can be. Our school, however, does not always have the means or the materials for them to be this best version of their educational selves. That is why I'm asking for your donation to help us take our writing to the next level.
My Project
With the binding machine and the necessary binding materials, my students will be able to become published authors! They take so much time with their writing and work tirelessly to make it the best that they can that it's only fitting that they should be able to publish what they have worked so hard on. These materials will make that publishing a reality for my students, allowing their hard work to be bound and ready to be showcased in our classroom library, at our school literacy nights, and to families and friends!

No longer will what they do be confined to the classroom- it will be able to reach a much larger audience. And who knows, with the confidence that comes along with being a published author, the sky is the limit for what my students might achieve next!
