My Students
My students are 21st century kids living in a very tech savvy world. I want them to be able to keep up with the ever evolving technology. They are hungry for knowledge in 2nd grade and they still love their teacher.
Second grade students are amazing!
They are so ready to learn every single day. They come to school like sponges and it is my job to take advantage of this and pour that knowledge in however I can. Our school is amazing. We are blessed with very caring teachers who invest in the lives of their students by teaching and truly loving them.
At least 50% of our school is on the free and reduced cost lunch program. With that kind of percentage, my students don't have the chance to get their hands on technology at home. I need them to be exposed to these things so that they are preparing for life. In my classroom I feel like I am not only teaching the basics, reading, writing and math, I am teaching little children how to be smart and informed adults. Technology in the classroom helps me with this goal immensely.
My Project
There are so many ways to use these five tablets in the classroom. In reading, I am able to differentiate reading more by matching students with their good fit books. There are endless ways to use them in math. There are educational apps that I carefully choose that will challenge the students. Second graders love QR codes. We solve math problems on paper and then scan a QR code to see if our answer is correct. Voila! Instant student motivation! The tablets can also be used as a reward for work well done. I will also use them for parent conferences to show student progress through pictures and data. There really are endless possibilities!
Donations of these tablets will keep my students motivated and help them with technology skills.
Because they have limited experiences with technology at home having these things at school and being able to use them every day will be great exposure to technology.
