My Project
How This Project Benefits Our Students:
Seeing the World Through Others’ Eyes
A well-maintained campus teaches students to respect shared spaces and consider the needs of others. By working together to beautify their school, students will learn to appreciate the perspectives of those who lack access to green spaces or safe play areas—a reality for many in our community.
Alleviating Suffering Through Action
This project will serve as a hands-on lesson in addressing inequity. Students will discuss how environmental neglect disproportionately affects low-income neighborhoods and how their efforts can reduce disparities. Planting flowers, laying mulch, and repairing fences will become acts of service, showing them that even small actions can ease burdens for others.
Measuring Success in Compassion
We will track growth not just in the physical transformation of our school, but in students’ emotional and social development. Success will be measured through:
Reflective journals where students document their observations about community needs.
Service-learning projects tied to the beautification effort (e.g., writing letters to donors, mentoring younger students in garden care).
Surveys and discussions assessing increased awareness of equity and empathy.
Why Your Support Matters
Many of our students face hardships beyond the classroom, but this project will remind them that they have the power to create change. With mulch, we’ll reduce mud and dust, improving health; with fencing, we’ll provide safety and a sense of pride. Most importantly, we’ll nurture a generation that sees service as a responsibility, not an obligation.
