My Project

My students come to school every day eager to learn, explore new ideas, and grow as readers. Many of them face challenges outside of school, but that doesn’t stop them from working hard and showing resilience in the classroom.

This project will help send high-interest, engaging books home with students for the summer—books they can keep, treasure, and read again and again.

By giving them access to stories they love, we’re not just encouraging summer reading—we’re helping them build confidence, vocabulary, and a lifelong love of books. Absolutely! Here's a version that meets the 90-word minimum and clearly explains the need:

Summer can be a time of fun and freedom, but for many students, it also leads to a loss of the reading progress they've worked so hard to achieve during the school year. Many of my students don’t have access to books at home, which makes it difficult to continue reading over the summer. By sending high-interest, level-appropriate books home with them, I can help bridge that gap. These books will keep my students engaged, help prevent the “summer slide,” and support their growth as confident, capable readers.
