My Project
The children we serve in our school range in grades K to 12th grade. Our school is 90% free and reduced, we serve a very high population of students from poverty. We also serve students who typically come from trauma, abuse, and neglect. Our students often come to school without their basic needs being met such as clothing not appropriate for the weather conditions (we are in Minnesota), clothing that does not fit appropriately, and almost always in need of food. We keep a school pantry in our building which provides our students with these basic needs. We are struggling to keep our pantry full this year because of the number of students in need.
