Help me give my students a pencil sharpener, pencils, glue sticks and other school supplies to use throughout the year.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Hylton's classroom raised $320
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are largely Haitian immigrants or first generation Americans. They come from low-income homes with almost all of them eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. They are sometimes limited to a school-home routine with little or no opportunities to experience anything outside of those places.
Some of the students have never experienced things that other children may take for granted, such as owning a computer and internet, going to a theme park or traveling to another state or country.
They need to see that the world is more than what is between the walls of their home and the fences of their school.
My Project
The pencil sharpener will be used throughout the school year on a daily basis along with the pencils for the students to get their work done. Glue sticks, rulers etc will also be used frequently for classwork and projects.
They along with all the other school supplies will ensure that the students will have the tools necessary to get their work done in class.
I hope to get these before the school year starts so that we can hit the ground running. That is not always possible because sometimes you have students who come in and don't have all the required supplies, this project will eliminate that.
More than half of students from low‑income households
