Help me give my students stools with wheels so that teachers can maneuver between students to monitor learning, work in small groups, and one-on-one with minimal noise.
I am a Special Education teacher in a 3rd grade Integrated Co-Teach Class, and share teaching with an amazing General Education teacher. Our ICT class consists of special education and general education students learning and working cooperatively. We also have a Literacy and Math coaches that “push-in” several times a week to work with students who require additional help in the subject matter.
Each student is unique and special in his and her own way, and we look forward to each school day!
Our school consists of culturally and linguistically diverse students within a low socio-economic community. Our special education students have been diagnosed with various exceptionalities which include learning difficulties, speech impairments, ADHD, Autism, and sensory issues.
My Project
Our students enjoy working cooperatively in small groups, which requires teacher supervision; and several students require one-on-one guidance. Our students learn best with minimal distractions, and a quiet environment due to sensory issues.
Can you imagine the benefit to students of having teachers move quickly, quietly and effortlessly between students and small groups?
Stools with wheels would enable us to move within the classroom from student to student, and group to group to assist students where and when needed to ensure learning and engagement. In addition, being able to move effortlessly and quietly between students would limit movement noise thereby keeping students focused.
Please make it possible for us to create a calm, quiet and engaging environment for our students by easing their sensory issues, and enabling them to take an active role in learning. The stools would enable us to do so, and would surely give our students an increased opportunity to learn and succeed!
