This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine seeing your story in the form of a book? I want to empower my students by having them create their very own books.

I teach thirteen enthusiastic kindergarteners who love to learn.

They attend an inner city Chicago public school. They face many challenges at this young age from living in a high poverty neighborhood to a gang infested environment. For many this is their first school experience. Despite these challenges they are eager to learn and tell their wonderful stories. As their teacher I would like to give them positive learning experiences in a safe environment.

My Project

My students will be able to create their very own books in kindergarten. It's so exciting to see their faces full of joy when they feel success. They love to tell stories about their families, friends and pets. They will use the printer (to print out their stories), book covers, and binders to create their wonderful books. Once they create their books they will showcase their books for everyone to read. We will use the printer throughout the school year and for many more to come.

Your donation will have a lasting impact on my current students and future students because they will be empowered to be writers at a young age.
