My Students
Everyone can be successful when given the opportunity and support. I believe that all of my students can grow positively. I believe this to be true both academically and as members of society. I do this by building positive relationships from day one.
My middle school students are a wonderful group who come from various backgrounds.
They are a diverse group that blend together to help each other learn and be successful. At our school we strive to create a "family" where students from all different grade levels and personal backgrounds feel comfortable and confident in themselves, each other and their teachers. We strive to create a school where people feel valued as an individual and as a learner. Everyone has something to offer and everyone is an important part of the "family".
My Project
My students need small dry erase boards, storage baskets, supply caddies to be organized. In math class we explore and show understanding in various ways. Sometimes that would be a math game or review. Many times these are done on dry erase boards. This is a quick and easy way for me and the students to check their current understanding of a topic. In class we also create and explore graphs and other math manipulatives using tools that will be in the desk caddies. In addition it is important for students to be able to keep track of and easily find assessments. Using the file folders labeled for each student, everyone will be able to find their folder, determine their current grade, or see if they missed a test and need to make it up. In the case of a missing assessment the student would be able to find their assessment in the hanging pocket. The donations will help the students become more organized and productive as they will have easy access to their materials.
The students in my class thrive on organization and focus to be successful.
All of the items will be used to create an environment where the students need to transition less often. Most common supplies will be in caddies on the desks. Class baskets will be labeled for homework and assessments. Also, students will be able to find missed assessments in the hanging pocket. In addition, studies have shown that the use of ball chair in the classroom increase focus.
