My Students
Our students are highly driven, passionate students who want to pursue the theatrical arts in their future. These are the future artists of our world.
We come from a diverse background as a magnet school, our students come from across the entire district, and they use the theatre classroom to meet new people, challenge themselves creatively, and explore human nature.
Our school has 1650 students 34% White, 20% Hispanic, 38% Black, and 5 % Asian. We have 38% of our student population on free and reduced lunch.
My Project
We have 18 students competing at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, NE in June. This festival gives our students the rare opportunity to focus on their theatrical craft for a week with Broadway professionals.
At this festival, students will audition for the top theatre schools in the nation, participate in workshops with professionals, and compete in their individual theatrical events with other students across the Nation.
Students will also be able to see productions from other schools across the Nation, and they will be able to audition for the National Tour of Dear Evan Hansen.
This week is a once in a lifetime opportunity celebrating the theatrical talents, experiences, and craft of each student. As you can imagine, this trip is incredibly costly. Because we are taking 18 students, we need to pay for their plane tickets to fly from North Carolina to Omaha, NE. This will help immensely in covering our total cost for the festival. I cannot emphasize enough how important this trip is for our students, our school, and our program.
