This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a high school music teacher in a low-income district who tries to get every type of student actively engaged in music!
My students yearn to make music, but do not have the resources to make it happen. They can't afford instruments and they can't afford lessons.
I am trying to put together a set of guitars and guitar accessories so that I can teach my students to play. These students have energy and creativity and I want to make sure that they have a positive outlet for these things in their life. I was fortunate enough to learn to play guitar when I was young and it has had a positive impact on my life that is impossible to overestimate. I want these students to be affected in the same way.
By donating to this proposal, you will be helping to give musical opportunities to young people who don't have the opportunities that they deserve. Thank you for your consideration!
