My Students
Our elementary school is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. In our building, we only have first and second grades and as you can imagine, it is full of energy!
Being the only first and second grade elementary school in our county, we have a diverse population.
Our students come from all backgrounds and economic levels. I love how our school is a mix of our entire area because students get to interact and make friends with a wide range of kids.
My Project
It's time for another classroom transformation! We are transforming our second grade classroom into a dinosaur safari. Students will be immersed in a dinosaur themed day.
Students will become dinosaur experts, wearing safari hats and lanyards that display their safari ID badges.
The vines and backlights will be used to help create the time period of the dinosaurs as the students rotate around the room completing tasks. These tasks will include measuring dinosaurs using inches and centimeters, creating a zoo enclosure for the dinosaurs, completing math problems that involve dinosaur facts, and researching dinosaur information. This all day classroom event will help students see that what we are learning daily in our classroom can be used in real life situations.
