Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, "We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future." I believe in my students but in an ever-growing technological society, my poor students do not have much of a foundation to build upon.
My students come from a low socioeconomic community.
We are a Title 1 School in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Most of the students at my school are English Language Learners and 100% of the students participate in the free breakfast/lunch program.
My kindergrtners are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. For most of them, kindergarten is their first school experience.
I teach a class of 26 English Language Learners with many different ability levels that need exposure to the same concepts in different ways. My students are eager to learn but struggle with the language. Their parents are not able to provide them the academic support that they need because they have had very little education or do not speak English themselves. A Samsung Galaxy Note will provide them with a multitude of resources in just one touch. They will literally have a vast array of resources at their fingertips.
My Project
I am requesting 1 Samsung Galaxy Note to incorporate technology into our everyday learning. The tablet will be used to assess and group students using our online assessment system. I will be able to provide activities which are appropriate to their level of achievement based on the outcomes of these assessments. A Samsung Note will give students access to the Internet and the wealth of knowledge which is available and can support them through the learning process. They will be able to access information and practice skills in all the subject areas: language arts, math, science and social studies.
I feel that this is a very important project because we need to prepare students for the future. We are in a society driven by technology and the sooner students have access and exposure to technology, the better prepared they will be for success in the future.
My students need a Samsung Galaxy Note in order to have access to the wealth of knowledge which is provided by the Internet and to facilitate online assessments.
