My Project
Our high school wrestling/athletics is an up and coming program that is on the rise. One major struggle is having effective weight room equipment, specifically for the sport of wrestling. This project is designed to help get the gear necessary for our program to soar to the skies.
In our first year of existence, GM boys and girls wrestling took 3rd in the conference as a team, had 2 conference champs and 14 conference placers, one pre-regional champ, regional qualifier, and two individuals being recruited for college.
What is impressive about this is every member of our team started wrestling this November for the first time. With this project our aim is to create a pre- and off season lifting program, specific to the sport of wrestling. This lifting and strength program will help our athletes to achieve their full potential in the sport.
The medicine and yoga balls will assist with sport specific movements, to help strengthen specific muscles used in wrestling. The sled will help develop good, clean shots, and effective takedowns, and the resistance bands will assist with helping students properly know stance and movement. When the wrestling team is not using this equipment, it will be available to all sports programs including basketball, softball, baseball, track, soccer, and cross country.
