My students need 45 copies of the novel we are reading in class so that they can practice their annotating skills. Students are learning not only how to highlight, but how to take margin notes and bracket.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Stemmer's classroom raised $447

My Students
My students represent the nations of the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East, but they live in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Some are second or third generation immigrants, while others are brand new to the country and just learning English. All of them are bright and eager to learn.
My school is devoted to providing our students with the resources they deserve, but we are a struggling Title I school.
As a result, while we ordered as many copies of the novel as we could, it just wasn't enough to provide each student with their own. We have just enough for one class set, which means that students can't jump into the novel the way they could if they could highlight, notate, bracket, and underline as they dive deeper, and deeper still into the novel.
For this reason, I am endeavoring to purchase another 45 copies of The Westing Game. These books will be used provided to students, free of charge, to have and to keep forever, as they build a personal library, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
My Project
It's the spring time, and while the birds are chirping and the sun is shining, my students will be reading about the mysterious Sam Westing and the 12 heirs competing for his fortune.
The Westing Game starts out in an apartment building like any other, but something deadly strange is afoot.
When old Mr. Westing dies unexpectedly, the residents of Sunset Towers find themselves searching for murder among them. Anyone could be guilty; every last tenant had a motive for murder - and a vast fortune is at stake.
My students have been looking forward to reading one more book before we break for summer and I send them off to high school. By providing each student with their own copy of The Westing Game, students will be able to not only delve deep into the mystery of Old Man Westing, but also further develop their annotating skills, marking up their books every time they discover a new clue. We need 45 copies of the novel we are reading in class so that they can practice their annotating skills.
