Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am blessed to teach an incredible group of kids each year! These kids continually amaze me year to year despite the learning challenges they face daily. They are smart, caring, and hardworking!! When I tell you they are incredible, that is an understatement! The majority of my sweet students struggle to learn but refuse to give up! Our school is located in a low income area where all of the students qualify for free meals. My students often spend anywhere from 9-12 hours a day at school so it is important to me that my classroom is a welcoming, safe environment. They know that in our class, they will learn even though it may look less traditional than most would imagine. I consider my students family and we work diligently together to maintain this feeling in my classroom.
My Project
Like I’ve said, I truly feel blessed to work with children of different abilities but they do need to access the curriculum in different ways. The one constant my students have is an immeasurable desire to learn. Having the laptop and being able to project visuals, stories, pictures, and videos from the internet will allow my struggling learners to more easily access the new science standards. Imagine being that 10 year old with a mind that has incredible questions but a brain that fights them when trying to learn. Every child deserves all that can possibly be done to help them learn to their highest abilities.
