Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work as an SEL Counselor at a Title I high school in the Bay Area. I not only counsel kids, but I also mentor, facilitate RJ circles, help tutor, mediate, and more.

I would love to provide them with wellness and mindfulness activities, basic supplies, and creature comforts such as a water filtration system for our in-class sink.

Most of our students come from low-income families and are first-generation immigrants from places such as South America, Ukraine, and Afghanistan. I know home life can be stressful for a lot of them. So, when they come to see me, I want to bring some joy, comfort, and general peace of mind. If I could give them all everything they needed, I would. But, until I hit the Lotto Jackpot, I'll settle with some basic supplies and creature comforts.

I know times are tough right now so thank you in advance for anything you are able to help with.
