This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into the classroom everyday ready to learn and grow. They love to read and learn new things through books and technology.
I teach at at Title 1 school in Richmond, CA, where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Even though my students face many hardships outside of school, they want to become scholars so they can have a successful life one day. They are creative, fun and energetic, and they deserve the best resources.
My Project
As the school year moves along, my classroom is running out of supplies. Students are constantly asking me for more notebooks or folders, or glue and markers, and my extra supplies are dwindling. As a teacher in a Title I School, almost all of my students' supplies come out of my pocket. Students do not have supplies at home, so a lot of the materials used in class are also used at home to help with homework and projects as well.
We still have an entire trimester left of school and we need more supplies to be able to successfully make it until the end of the year.
As a 6th grade teacher, I am doing my best to prepare my students for middle school. However, if I do not have the supplies in my classroom, it is very hard to teach and have students learn.
