Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have been teaching special education students (moderate-severe ages 18-22) for five years. For the past two years, in speaking with my students about their goals and interests, I have learned that many of them love to read! I currently have a small library of life skills books, which were provided by our school for instructional purposes, but my students have been expressing the desire to read books for recreation and leisure time, books that pertain to their interests such as scary stories, sports, etc. I have purchases a few books on my own, but to build a library is pricey, so I am asking for help so that my students are able to continue pursuing their love for reading while building essential reading skills.
