This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our campus is a building that houses seven high schools in one building. Our campus houses eleven different varsity teams serving over 250 student athletes.
Our students are generally from low-socioeconomic neighborhoods in all five boroughs.
They typically cannot afford some of the things that are necessary to compete at a high level. I coach the co-ed varsity wrestling team and the girls flag football team. Our students come from all over the city and some spend a little more than an hour to get to school.
As previously stated, most of our girls come from low socioeconomic neighborhoods and can barely afford a decent pair of cleats, let alone other athletic equipment. Still, with determination, strong will and countless hours on the sport they have grown to love, they find a way to win in the classroom, the wrestling mat and the football field.
My Project
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, my students lost the ability to find efficient ways to exercise. Unlike many coaches, I did not want to give up on their dreams so I have been holding video chats over Zoom so they can stay active.
I am writing to you because my students with special needs are in need of physical activity!
I have been hosting at home Zoom workouts for students so they can stay physically active, but unfortunately, I do not have a mouse or keyboard on my Surface tablet which will make it easier navigate the workouts. I searched for the cheapest best option to continue to provide my students with the physical activity they need.
This will give me the opportunity to teacher remotely and navigate through live video streams to my students so they continue to live a healthy life from the comfort of their home!
