This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a team and that requires COLLABORATION!! Students work well when they are confident of their skills and product, so I want to give them ample supplies to be creative when producing posters & visual slide shows. The markers and clicker promote student success & confidence!

My students are sophomores in the ELA (English) classroom who are from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.

Many of my students do not have the financial and spatial resources at home to complete homework assignments, so I offer my students classroom time and supplies to accomplish tasks with my assistance. Our school is situated in Orange County, California, but 80% of our students qualify for a free or reduced lunch program and do not have financial stability in their homes. Our school is assisted through Title I funds and promotes students' success in every way! Our students are goal-oriented and in a college & career ready path to prepare them for adulthood, but they do not necessarily have the resources to get them there and I want to bridge that gap.

My Project

My students need Mr. Sketch Scented Stix Markers with 216 in the package for poster making, presentations, and overall all art work in the English classroom! We also need a Logitech Professional Presenter. Mr. Sketch Markers: These markers are a hit with adolescents because of their bright colors and of course their fruity scented aroma (my students LOVE stickers, too...Yes--in high-school!). My students will use these markers to create posters, brochures, and diagrams related to the ELA classroom such as demonstrating the use of a literary term or a story-board of a recently read novel. The markers will be distributed amongst teams and collected at the end of each period. Students may also come in before and after school to use the markers. Clicker & Laser Pointer: I envision using this tool so that I may walk around the room during a lecture in which I want to be active, yet still have a focal point to refer to on the screen. Currently I must walk over and click the computer for each screen. Also, students will be able to use the clicker when presenting their visual slides such as PowerPoint, PREZI, and Google Slides!! This gives them the opportunity to interact with technology!

Donations to this project will improve my classroom because students will take ownership of their product whether it be a poster, brochure, or a slide presentation because they will be confident of the materials used to create their product.

In addition, students will look forward to using the materials in my classroom and know that they are going to be successful. Allowing students to use classroom materials, such as a classroom set of Mr. Sketch markers, gives them a sense of responsibility.
