This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a speech language pathologist at my school. Many of the families are of a lower socioeconomic status and a majority of the parents of my students are Spanish speaking. My students all have speech and language difficulties, as well as being English language learners. Despite their challenges, my students are always eager and enthusiastic about learning!
My Project
This school year will most likely be a hybrid model with both in person learning and remote learning. Many students did not have the necessary supplies to participate fully during remote learning last year. There was often a lot of background noise coming from students' homes which impacted their ability to hear and be heard! Headphones will improve their ability to participate and get the most out of remote speech therapy by reducing background noise and amplifying their voices. They will also be able to use these headphones to participate in live instruction with their classroom teachers, guidance counselors, and other remote therapies, including occupational therapy and physical therapy.
