I teach 7th and 8th Grade Math to students in the Austin Neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago.

I teach Math to over 130 kids a day! They are eager to learn as much as possible about Math, but they need to be engaged and presented information in a way that is relevant to them.

My Project

I'm asking for a document camera for my classroom. A document camera basically just projects whatever you put under it up onto a presentation screen. For instance, if you are working with math manipulatives (think fraction pieces or coins), you can simply work with them under the document camera and all of the students in the class can see what you are doing. This is extremely powerful when you can share individual student work with the entire class by placing the work under the document camera and projecting it up on the screen.

A document camera would be an excellent addition to the tools I use in my classroom to engage and teach large numbers of students at a time.

Because of large class sizes, it is sometimes difficult to present and share hands-on activities or information with large groups of students. A document camera will allow me to present in such a way so that ALL students can be learning!
