it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are recent immigrants to the U.S., hailing from China, Bangladesh, Senegal, Haiti, and many more countries. They represent a variety of different educational backgrounds, native languages, religions, cultures, and world views. What brings them together is a common eagerness to be accepted and to be at home in this country.
I am very honored to spend their senior year with them and thus have the chance to see them through one of the turning points in their lives.
All of them leave a lasting impact on me--and on our school.
My Project
I teach personal finance and basic economic concepts through a yearlong simulated economy. Each of my students has a classroom job for which they earn a salary, and each is responsible for paying bills, like rent on their chair. To incentivize their learning, we have monthly classroom stores, in which class store managers collect donated inventory, price and stock it, and sell goods to their classmates using our simulated currency.
Your donation to our project will make our stores even more successful--students are ALWAYS hungry and constantly ask for snacks.
Our store managers also need price stickers, sales receipts, and date stamps to catalogue their sales.
