This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help build our music program! Our Academy has been around for three years and the music program was just opened this year. We are a program in need of help from getting reeds to instruments for every student.
My students are very diverse and energetic group of middle-schoolers.
They have been waiting to start instruments since the beginning of the school year but have had to wait until I secured enough instruments for a class set. We have ran out of reeds that were donated by my fellow music educators in and out of the district. We even ran out of the reeds that I bought.
They are ready to continue their music education but we need your help.
We are the only middle school in the immediate area that has opened an instrument program.
My Project
We need reeds to be able to play the saxophones and clarinets that we have. It has been very tough on me to tell my students that they can not get a new reed because we ran out.
We need the sterilizers to clean the mouthpiece before every class since we share instruments because we do not have enough for everyone.
We need a new clarinet mouthpiece to use one of the older clarinets that are loaned to us from a nearby school.
In brief, we need help in establishing and keeping the program alive.

I don't want to tell another student, "I'm sorry, we ran out of reeds; you can't play today," or worst, "We can't play today because we ran out of the mouthpiece cleaners." You're donations will help keep the music alive.
