This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Boys with some big reading obstacles but even bigger potential. Our students (currently all boys) love stories of action, adventure, mystery and excitement. They're each incredibly unique and important. From art and 3d modeling to deep dives into history, these guys love it all.
My Project
Not everyone is able to visualize what they read in a book, some minds need help. The graphic format of these books will help our students fall in love with books and reading, making way for more in depth reading later. Kids with visual and auditory sensory challenges really benefit from the support that illustrators can give them through their art. Our students spend at least 20 minutes a day reading silently and it can be difficult to know that they're taking in what they're reading. With these books we can know that their vocabulary and comprehension are getting stronger every day.
