This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you like to show your artistic side? My students need to get creative!
My students are in the second grade in a high poverty area in New York City.
Most of the children come from single parent homes or live in a shelter. They are good kids who unfortunately don't get the opportunities other children who have an economic advantage get.
My Project
These craft items will help motivate my students to come to school everyday and try their best. They will also be used as an incentive. They will know that if they work hard, these fun activities will be part of the reward. Many times my students aren't able to go outside after lunch due to violence in the streets. They will be able to still have fun and use their creativity while they are socializing with their classmates.
This donation will have such a positive impact on my students.
They will be able to make artistic projects that they can take home to their parents. Many of them don't have the economic means at home to buy paper, glue, or any arts and crafts activities. This project being funded will make such a difference in their lives.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
