My Students
Help save our bottoms! We would really appreciate a comfortable and attractive ABC Caterpillar Carpet on which to sit, learn, and play. We have a daily classroom meeting where we sit on the floor to read stories, sing songs, and use our interactive white board and LCD projector.
My special needs preschool students have been identified as having developmental delays.
They attend a public elementary school and range in age from 2-6 years old. My students are so eager to learn and are excited about coming to school. I want to continue building on their enthusiasm for learning!
Our Title One school is located in a high-poverty area, and 77.6% of our students are identified as economically disadvantaged. Our school is also designated as a math, science, and technology magnet within our city.
My Project
Last summer, our aging school building's roof was replaced, but while the work was being done, our classroom's wall-to-wall carpet was ruined with spots of dripped roofing tar and ceiling dust. While the wall-to-wall carpet has been cleaned, it will not be replaced for some time and is not attractive at all. A new, inviting area rug with a spot for everyone is just what we need to sit comfortably while we learn our ABC's! This caterpillar rug has a circle marking where each student should sit and is marked with the alphabet to help us learn our letters. It's very eye-catching and would be a focal point for learning in our classroom.
As an early childhood special education classroom, we spend the majority of our day learning and playing on the floor, so a stimulating, clean, comfortable work and play area is very important.
I love each of my students and want to provide the best early learning experiences for them. Please consider helping us make our classroom a place students truly want to be!
