My Students

I have been different positions in my school, so I know our students are bright readers and mathematicians. But, as the art teacher this year, I have to admit I also work with the most creative young minds in our nation's capital.

My kids have demonstrated innovation in product design, color mixing, and developing innovation through inspiration each and every day; I could not be more proud.

They work together to build community projects, sharpen their fine motor skills, and work to positively and confidently express themselves.

My Project

I am proposing a rehabilitation of our rooftop garden space. It is my hope that in establishing this garden we will be able to provide our neighborhood and school community with produce that students as well as build math skills and teamwork.

I believe this project strongly supports the belief of serving our kids the best education, food, and information about nutrition around.

I believe our school fundamentally supports teamwork, collaboration, and a cross-curricular examination of math, science, and hands-on learning.

Our school garden will combine aspects of math, science, and art every day. We will be able to read informational texts on soil, analyze plant data and sun conditions for planting, and chart the success rate of each produce planted. This garden will support an endless sense of giving back to our community with each and every harvest.
