Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is made up of 25 enthusiastic, excited 1st graders. Half of our population are neighborhood kids and half are bused in from another neighborhood. There are varying levels of economic levels, as well as academic levels.

We have a wide range of reading levels.

In addition, the students have a variety of outside experiences. Some children have never been to a museum, while others go all the time. I want to make sure that all students have equal access to supplies, experiences, and knowledge.

My Project

I am asking for three separate sets of supplies to help with my students' reading. The first thing I am asking for is book bags for each student to keep their just right books in.

I am also asking for mini white boards so that students can build their sight words with magnetic letters and write their sight words, which will help their reading.

The last thing I am asking for is the talking phones. Students will speak into their phones so they can hear their own reading, which will help with their oral fluency. These will also encourage kids to want to read out loud more.
