My Students
I teach fourth grade at a Title I school located in Central Florida. 98% of students at my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. I teach 40 fourth-grade students. Our students come from a variety of social, behavioral, and emotional backgrounds.
My students come to school every day eager to learn and they are sponges that soak up everything around them.
Many of our students come to school with large learning gaps. They also come to school to be loved and cared for. However, they are all eager to learn and make learning gains. My hope is that every student that comes through knows that they are loved and that their thoughts are valued.
My Project
Our county has adopted a new reading program this year to go along with our new B.E.S.T. Standards. Wit and Wisdom is a very intense and engaging program. There is a lot of hands-on learning with journals and "real books". These supplies will ensure that all of my students have the supplies that they need to be successful this year in navigating this new program. Every day we are cutting and gluing things into our notebooks. This method ensures that the students are hands-on with the material and that they always have access to the work later in the year. With these supplies, my students can continue their hard work with Wit and Wisdom.
