This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a speech therapist, I work with students who have a wide range of speech and language deficits including expressive and receptive language disorders in the NYC public schools. We have some Pre-k students for this year! Our Pre-k students need to work on their vocabulary skills. This includes working on categorization, adjectives, and sequencing skills. Pre-K students also begin to learn letters and sounds. Since it’s the first school experience for many of them, I want to make coming to speech therapy as fun and motivating as possible. The activities listed in this project will target vocabulary skills and pre-reading skills, and are sure to be fun and engaging!
