Help Pre-K Class to Learn Remotely With Fun Pre-K-Class Kits

Help me give my students accessible materials to learn from home! These materials will help my students strengthen their fine motor skills, learn the alphabet and numbers, and allow me to find additional materials virtually.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 3 and 4-year-olds about to enter school for the first time and with this unique situation, they are going to begin remotely! They are young children who learn best through manipulatives and a lot of hands-on learning. Many of them come from low-income backgrounds and I want to equip them the best I can to support their learning at home.

My Project

Preschool age is a time of developing social-emotionally and doing a lot of hands-on learning. Unfortunately, due to this pandemic, my students will miss out on meeting new friends in person, working collaboratively in the classroom, and learning to problem-solve with others. However, I want to provide materials that they would be using in the classroom at home. The majority of my students come from low-income households, and they may not have access to certain materials at home, so I want to provide the tools to practice at home.

By providing educational kits for my preschoolers, they will have access to materials that can support their learning at home.

Blocks are excellent to use to help build fine motor by building and they can also be used to count and to sort in groups for math. The dry erase boards would be used for students to practice writing letters and numbers and even drawing their responses to our morning meetings. Play-doh and sensory squish beads will help with fine motor development as they use their hands to shape and mold letters or ideas that they have. Construction paper and lined paper will allow students to practice cutting and writing which will also strengthen their fine motor skills as well as improve in their writing and be creative. I want to provide my students with access to these materials because children learn through play and using tactile modalities.

They also will need different activities to practice what they're learning. Therefore, with the gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers, I will be able to find printable bundles and appropriate digital resources to send to my preschoolers and include in my virtual lessons. Until we are finally able to meet in the classroom, we will do our best to learn remotely.
