Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Before walking into my class, each of my students makes eye contact with me, smiles and says, "Hello, Ms. Y. I am (insert a positive word or feeling word)." My goal for each of them is for them to say, "Hello, Ms. Y. I am a future (insert science/computer/math career here).

My high risk, low-income students are the joy and laughter of my soul.

They constantly inspire me with their resilience, passion for learning, and drive to become successful, productive members of the world stage. By focusing on a growth mentality, these future adults are active learners who know that with consistent hard work, they can overcome their beginnings; thus changing the world for themselves, their families and following generations.

My Project

By using PowerMyLearning, I will increase parental involvement by engaging families in their children's classroom learning. In addition, the PowerMyLearning Family Engagement Innovators Program will give access to Family Playlists to 4 other teachers at my school, thus bringing increasing student achievement by involving more families in my school community.

What are Family Playlists?

Family Playlists are a primary tool of PowerMyLearning. It is a multilingual, mobile-friendly homework assignment system which deepens students’ understanding which can be monitored by their teacher.

PowerMyLearning's Family Playlists is my students will strengthen their social-emotional learning by having them teach what they are learning to a family partner at home. As a result, students will grow in their understanding while engaging in academic/professional conversations using appropriate language with varied audiences.
