Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Imagine being six years old, full of energy and ideas, and having to sit still in a hard chair for most of the day. My first-grade students are excited to learn, especially during our writing and literacy rotations, but traditional seating often limits their focus and creativity. That’s why I'm asking for flexible seating options—such as floor cushions, and lap desks—to help students feel more comfortable and in control of their learning space.

Flexible seating will make a huge difference in our classroom.

When students can choose where and how they sit, they become more engaged, collaborative, and motivated. A child may do their best writing while sitting on a soft cushion on the floor with a lap desk. These choices give students ownership over their learning, helping them express themselves more confidently during writing and reading tasks.

My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students feel inspired and supported to do their best work. By donating to this project, you’ll be helping young writers discover their voices and build lifelong literacy skills.
