How would you feel with tons of energy bottled up inside? Imagine telling a Kindergartener to sit still for 30-45 minutes!
My students attend a semi-urban school just east of our downtown.
They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and bring with them a wide variety of previous school experiences. Many students have not been in a structured school environment previously, and as such have difficulty learning classroom procedures and norms. They often have difficulty sitting still on the carpet so that they and others can learn.
My Project
These six wiggle seats will help my struggling students be able to focus on lessons instead of their wiggly bodies. They will provide some movement so that students have the freedom to move, but in a defined space and in a safe way. These seats will help students with ADHD and other behaviors attend to lessons and perform better in class. Additionally, they will help these students sit more comfortably so they are not constantly moving around and getting in trouble.
These materials will help me be able to better meet the needs of all my students in my classroom.
Fair is not every student getting the same thing, it's every student getting what they NEED. Some of my students need a way to be able to sit on the carpet and still have some movement for their active bodies. This will enable them to concentrate on the lesson and be better learners.
