Help our STEM Class Read and Reflect on the Rug!

Help me give my students the opportunity to collaboratively read and reflect on a STEM inspired rug. This solar system rug will be a great asset to the classroom for their current and future STEM projects.

My Students

I am a teacher who loves her job and loves her babies, year after year! I enjoy the big and small moments, as I know they all lead to success.

It is never a boring day at my job, that is for sure as my children are beyond fascinating as their personalities are full of energy and character.

I work in a Title I school, where we strive for excellence regardless of financial setbacks. I work diligently to build relationships with the children, so they are always at comfort with me.

My Project

As a dedicated educator, I believe students need time to come together collaboratively to read and reflect on past, current and future STEM experiments. When students are sitting at a lab table with their peers, when we're having group readings and reflecting about projects, they tend to get distracted and are less engaged.

When sitting on the rug, everyone is facing one direction towards whoever is speaking.

Having everyone sit on the rug feels like a community. There’s something really nice about everyone sitting together as a group on the rug. Instead of sitting at tables all the time, they're sitting with all of their peers together and it feels different. A great sense of connection is felt.

There are many, many more reasons why I would like to have my students gather on the rug, but those are the main reasons why I believe my students should have rug time in STEM.
