This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help our students create designs with jamming tunes and dynamic sound effects by upgrading our new netbook!
We are a middle school drama / speech department serving grades 6 - 8.
Our Title I school district is in a high-risk community where most students are minority and low-income. Though our theater students struggle at times to succeed; they are passionate, imaginative kids who deserve the chance to experience a creative learning environment.
In 8th grade, theater students learn public speaking, problem-solving, artistic, and teamwork skills by mounting 10-minute plays at the end of a 9 week class. The students create designs (sound, lights, set, etc.) for their plays.
My Project
Our students use a netbook to select, edit, and create sound designs for their plays. While our netbook is great, the process would go smoother if we could upgrade our system. First, we need a CD/DVD burner. Our netbook does not have one, and this is a must for sound design. We also could use additional hard drive space to store new music and effects as we collect them. An external hard drive would give us this space. Finally, we could use additional memory for running more complex sound editing/mixing programs.
If we had a CD / DVD burner, external hard drive, and additional memory for our netbook it would allow our students to create even more dynamic sound designs.
