My Project
Since November, we have been watching tadpoles grow into frogs! Students come to the library every day so excited to see if the tadpoles are sprouting legs and rising out the water to breathe air. This increases students' love of reading, literacy and their library routines!
Now that our tadpoles are close to graduating from their aquariums with water, we are eager to transfer them to a terrarium with moss, wood, live crickets and their very own swimming pool.
Our diverse New York City students, who speak more than 40 languages among them, will greatly enjoy getting their hands dirty in the soil. They will put down rocks, plant moss and learn all about about woodland frogs common to the Northeast where they live. City children especially enjoy this connection to nature and this opportunity to learn about life cycles. Thanks for helping our students become scientists through hands-on learning and then researchers as they gain literacy skills through decodable early readers about amphibians.
