This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Learning about perseverance, innovation, self-reliance, and even nature through reading... and they love it??? That's exactly what we find when our 6th graders read the book Hatchet! Through the eyes of a young boy (Brian) stranded in the woods, they learn a story of survival.
Stories like Brian's help our students learn vital life skills that help them navigate through some of life's most difficult challenges.
Our school has seen an increase in growth in every grade level since the pandemic. This growth, combined with normal wear and tear of the books, means we need to add to our collection of core novels the teachers assign each year. That's why I'm asking for your help to replenish our supply of Hatchet so we can be sure our entire 6th grade is able to read this amazing book!
