My Students

The seventh grade students at our rural Eastern North Carolina school are focused on getting to and through college, despite the challenges they face living in a low-income setting.

They are excited to grow their knowledge, and to develop the skills necessary to be successful later in life.

They work with urgency and grit to reach their goals, and they truly understand that their work and learning is never done. They are eager to make a difference in their lives, the lives of their families, and in their community as a whole.

My Project

My students desperately need supplies to take care of their basic hygiene. These supplies, while taken for granted by some people, are greatly needed in our school and by the students in our community.

In order to be ready and able to learn, students' basic hygiene needs must be first met.

Our students discussed venues for us to find these supplies which we badly need, and decided DonorsChoose would be a good avenue to pursue fund-raising for this.

No child should have to go without a toothbrush or toothpaste, or should have to contemplate whether they are able to attend school due to their menstrual cycle. The fact that this is a case for students living in the United States of America is appalling. Your donation will make it possible for our students to learn, building their skills and opportunity for success in the future.
