Is there anything better than sitting down in a comfy chair and reading a favorite book? Now imagine if your favorite chair was replaced with a hard tile floor. Wouldn't it be that much harder to enjoy your story? I know it is for my students.
I teach a diverse class of 20 fifth graders.
They love reading, and we make time for it every day at school. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to either sit at our desks or sit on the floor when it's time to read silently. Sitting on the floor day after day makes our behinds hurt!
My Project
I am requesting some comfortable seating for our classroom. I would love to have a few options other than sitting on the hard floor available for them during reading time. Even if we had just a few comfortable things to sit on, we would be more than happy to share them among ourselves. We have had the idea of making a calendar and signing up for an equal number of days to sit on the comfy chairs for each student.
This donation of comfortable seating would make a difference because it would help us truly be able to enjoy our books.
Sometimes sitting on the floor can be really distracting when your tailbone is aching! Being comfortable would definitely help my students focus on our books better! Also, this donation would be able to be used by future students for years and years to come. I like the idea of saving the tailbones of future kids!
