This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have had a lack of opportunity to be hands on in their science classes for most of their high school careers. Due to this, there has been no opportunity for these students to be inquisitive, questioning, and engaged in their science classes. Being less involved in their class and not being able to use their hands in class as resulted in a lack of interest in science.
Help me give my students the opportunity to make observations, take on leadership roles, take personal in interested in class hydroponic system, and make a real world connection to their studies through our classroom growing station.
The material that I am asking for is a self contained hydroponic system that will be maintained and used by three teachers environmental science classes. Students will be given leadership roles maintain the system to produce vegetables in a sustainable manner. Students will then be advocates to our school population on growing sustainable food sources.
