My Students
My students are English language learners who are recent immigrants to the United States. Many of my students are refugees and have never been to school or have experienced interrupted schooling due to war. My students are very eager to learn everything they can to make up for their lost learning time.
If I can provide them the necessary materials to catch up to their peers, my students will shine brightly.
We need to show these children that we care and will do our best to help them in the classroom.
My Project
My students are great kids in grades 3-5 who need to learn English to assimilate into their regular education classes. Often times, they are the primary English speakers in their households. Sometimes they have to read the mail, pay the bills, and cook dinner.
The Oxford Picture Dictionary set is a great tool to teach and reinforce English.
It has simple pictures and vocabulary instruction and practice. My students will complete the English lesson here at school, then take it home and teach their parents! When the parents are involved in their child's education it makes a world of difference. This will also help the parents to have confidence as they navigate their new environment.
