Even in kindergarten imagination and creativity are often stifled. I want my students to be able to express themselves by infusing art throughout our language arts and math lessons.
Many of my students come from poverty but are enthusiastic and excited about life and learning.
I want them to have the artistic experiences that all children need and deserve and to allow imagination to be a part of their daily lives. With the current economic situation there is often no money available for these types of supplies.
My Project
I am requesting some basic arts and craft supplies such as paints, glitter, and glue sticks. With these and the various paper supplies my students will be able to respond to literature, write and illustrate their own stories, and create books, cards, and displayable art from their own imaginations. Creativity will be alive and embraced in our room!
My young students will gain confidence in their own thoughts and ideas by being able to create and share them.
They will learn responsibility in having to care for and conserve the supplies. Literacy and math skills will be reinforced in fun and colorful ways.
These outcomes are priceless and will follow the children throughout their schooling and into adult life.
